My eyes have been directed toward the nature, which is not a thing that gets extinct shortly or completed in a day, but has been formed over a long time. During the very long time before we had existed, the principle of the nature that had slowly existed at that place resembles the principle of working on the tapestry, which the warp threads and the weft threads slowly make the shapes one by one. In the woven painting work, which produced strong and hard images by accumulation of the yarn and time, the long temporality becomes an essential components.
However, paradoxically, the spaces in which we exist, they comprise a material world, that is fully filled with the things that get worn out, consumed and finally disappeared when the time has passed. Due to not only the tangible substances by hand, but also the media that get gradually faster cycle, the new knowledge and the scientific sources have been repeatedly disappearing quickly and even the relationships with people are being instantiated.
What message can the tapestry, which requires the endurance over a long time and the hard trouble in order to produce one piece of artwork give to the digital era that has been getting faster?
If I were to define this tapestry with one word, I will say that it is the work of the honest labor. The big benefit that this gives to me is the modest realization that we are the existences belonging within a small part of this entire nature through conforming long waiting with the results of the labor.

나의 시선은 하루아침에 완성이 되고, 금방 소멸되어지는 것이 아닌 오랜 시간을 거쳐 형성되어온 자연을 향해있다. 우리가 존재하기 전부터 아주 오랜 세월 동안, 천천히 그 자리에 있어온 자연의 원리는 날실과 씨실이 서서히 하나하나 형상을 만들어 내는 타피스트리 작업 원리와 많이 닮아 있다.
실과 시간이 축적되면서 견고하고 단단한 이미지를 만들어내는 실로 짠 회화 작업에서 긴 시간성은 필수적인 구성 요소가 된다.
그러나 역설적으로 우리가 존재하는 공간은, 시간이 지나면 마모되고 소모되다 결국에는 사라지는 것들로 가득 찬 물질세계이기도 하다. 손에 잡히는 가촉적(Tangible)인 물질뿐 아니라 점점 더 빨라지는 미디어로 인해, 새로운 지식과 과학 자료들도 점점 더 빠른 싸이클로 금새 사라지기를 반복하고, 사람과의 관계마저도 인스턴트화 되고 있다.
갈수록 빨라져 가는 디지털 시대에 한 작품을 제작하기 위해 오랜 시간의 인내와 사람의 고된 수고가 요구되는 타피스트리는 어떤 메세지를 줄 수 있겠는가?…
나는 이 타피스트리를 한 단어로 정의하라면 정직한 노동의 작업이라고 이야기 할 것이다. 이것이 나에게 가져다주는 큰 유익은 노동의 결과에 대해 기다림으로 순응하면서 우리가 이 전체의 작은 일부, 즉 자연 안에 속한 존재임을 겸손히 깨닫는 것이다.
